Event Description

Join us every second Thursday to connect with art through cocktails, conversations, and creativity. This month, enjoy an evening enhanced with art making and themed cocktails while listening to local Grammy-award winning band Brave Combo perform on our Porch.

Schedule

5–6:30 p.m.

Listen to DJ Wild in the Streets play fun songs you can dance to on our Porch.

5–8 p.m.

Enjoy drinks creatively crafted by Pop Up Bar on the Plaza. Three specialty-themed cocktails will be inspired by artworks in our collection. Carter members get one complimentary drink! Luckey G's Bistro and Mama Lama food trucks will be available for purchase all evening long.

Join Carter Community Artist Brenda Ciardiello in exploring Ruth Asawa's unique sculpture. Participants will "draw in the air," as Asawa often described her wire sculpting process, and create their own kinetic wire sculptures in vibrant colors. Supplies are limited to the first 200 people.

Check out the pop-up Museum Shop on the Plaza.

6–6:30 p.m.

Experience a cocktail-themed tour of our collection with Carter educator Andi Severin. We’ll learn about which artworks best embody popular cocktails. All of the cocktails will be available for purchase at the bar throughout the night.

6:30–8 p.m.

Listen to Grammy-award winning band Brave Combo and dance on our Porch as the sun sets. For the past three decades the Denton-based quintet has perfected a world-music mix that includes salsa, meringue, rock, cumbia, conjunto, polka, zydeco, classical, cha cha, the blues, and more. The band has won two Grammy Awards and has been nominated seven times. They appeared in an episode of The Simpsons, and their music has been featured on the TV series Ugly Betty, the films Fools Rush In and Academy-award winner The Personals, and they’ve created original compositions for ESPN and The Big Ten network. Brave Combo also played David Byrne’s (lead singer of Talking Heads) wedding reception.

American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation may be provided during this event upon advance request. Please send us an email for more information.
